Hi,
The 1st suggestion i will give u is to get use to it.I had the same probelam as u as well when i first do sit up,try to slow down a little when doing sit up,and try to balance your body when u move up.
2nd do more back exersice,This help to strenghthen your back muslce ,give more concentration on your lower back. This is because when u doing sit ups, lower back as well give a large amount of support to lift your body up while doing sit up.
3rd there are heaps of exersice tht able to target abs without your legs being held.U can try wood chop, bicycle, floor wipe head rise u name it.
Hope this help.

if you put your feet underneath the edge of a couch, youll be able to do a full sit up. the couch acts as a person holding your legs, except you wont actually need a person. that's how i do my sit ups and it works great :)
Lie back on a swiss ball to work your abs and your feet won't lift then, so you'll be able to concentrate just on your abs.
