I am looking for the newest & best filtration system for a 29 gallon aquarium . Any advice?

I have a traditional 29 Gallon freshwater aquarium. I would like to purchase the newest and best filtration system. Any advice? Thanks for your help..I am looking for the newest %26amp; best filtration system for a 29 gallon aquarium . Any advice?
It really depends on what type of fish you are going to put in there.

some fish do not like strong currents. some need them.

some fish produce more waste than others.

I always recommed, if a person wants a filter system that they get one that is rated for a slightly larger tank than what they have.

I like the wet/dry filters with the waterpump and biowheel but a simple hang over the side type is fine.

I do not like the kind that uses an air pump because they are too noisy. and i never recommend the undergravel type.

Actually, if you have a planted aquarium you don't really need a filter, the bacteria that eat ammonia and nitrites live in the slime that coats the gravel, plants, decorations and the walls of the tank. and produce the nitrates that the plants need to grow. the plants in turn will produce oxygen for the fish. but i use the filter anyway because mine also powers the lights. and creates a gentle current that moves the larger pieces of waste to the filter.

I also have alge eaters and snails that hide in the foliage. and come out when the lights are off.I am looking for the newest %26amp; best filtration system for a 29 gallon aquarium . Any advice?
The eclipse 3 hood is great...I think its better than a hang on the back filter because the water contact with the filter media is much higher as well as a much larger bio wheel than the equivalent ';hang on back'; filter. I also like it because its not so powerful that it blows the fish around :-P
Get the Ehemi filter it is the best I have every use. Try to get one size bigger that what you need. It will do wonder for you tank.
Bio-wheel filters all the way. Penguin is made by Marineland -- the same folks who do the Eclipse tanks/hoods. They also have a discount brand (Regent?) sold through stores such as Wal-Mart which seem to be identical, at least to my eyes, to the Penguin and Eclipse lines.

Those filters are just amazing.
I love my ';Whisper'; filters. They run quiet and they are extremely easy to change.
Personally I prefer the power fileters with bio wheels such as penguin. They provide both mechanical and biological filtration.
Sorry, I dont understand the question.
I'm in Australia and I prefer the FLUVAL fliter, comes in several sizes and highly recommended
if u have a little money these will do the trick and i like their preformance

How many of the ex Hillary anti Obama voters are going to take Hillary's advice and vote for Obama?

just because she asked them to fall in line! How many of the ex Hillary anti Obama voters are going to take Hillary's advice and vote for Obama?
They are the real sheep. How many of the ex Hillary anti Obama voters are going to take Hillary's advice and vote for Obama?
I don't think they feel she is genuine with her support. It's a political ploy, probably at the insistence of Howard Dean. Since Hillary probably wants to try again in 2012, she'll do whatever her party wants, including endorsing a guy she despises.

So to answer your question, I doubt if her plea is going to sway anyone who had already decided to go with McCain.

Plus in reality, McCain is very Centrist, like Bill Clinton before him. He's hardly conservative or a far right Republican. Intelligent people obviously see that, so it's not a stretch for Dems who don't go along with the party's current Socialist leanings to opt for McCain. Plus he has experience and he's not a racist.
    NOT MANY ! ! !

Clinton told her cheering audience in the Las Vegas suburb of Henderson. ';Remember who we were fighting for in my campaign.'; - - Yeah ... HER ... NOT JUNIOR U.S. Senator Obama !!!

Remember ... Republicans TRYING to keep the Socialist / Communist / Liberal / Marxist Democrats from running OUR country into the ground !!

    We do NOT want a Socialist / Communist / Liberal / Marxist ANTI-American for a President !!

AND ... we need to make sure that ALL American get out to VOTE the Socialist / Communist / Liberal / Marxist Democrats OUT OF OFFICES - Locally, State-Wide, AND Nationally !!

JUNIOR U.S. Senator Obama is ANTI-American.

JUNIOR U.S. Senator Obama wants to END WORLD POVERTY on ... OUR NICKEL AND SURRENDER THE United States ... to THE United Nations.

    .

    Please, search the ...

Global Poverty Act (S.2433), ... and it is being sponsored by none other than JUNIOR U. S. Senator Barack Obama.

    .

JUNIOR U. S. Senator Obama did NOT complete his FIRST term in office !!

... with just 143 days of ACTUAL experience

    ... HE decided

... that he DESERVED to be THE President of THE United States of America !!!

    .

JUNIOR U.S. Senator Obama, the Unions, and the Democrats are sending messages to big business to downsize in America and send more jobs to foreign countries.

Brilliant ideas from JUNIOR U.S. Senator Obama, the Democrats and the Unions (SARCASM) !!!!

    .

WE NEED to start doing the ';REPORT ABUSE'; Button on the ABUSIVE Obama Supporters for EVERY LITTLE ... POSSIBLE ... Violation, like they do to the rest of the people on here !!!!

    .
Most will vote for McCain because they know Hillary isn't sincere in wanting any votes to go to Obama. Besides, she's going to be the nominee by the time the convention is over.
My manager was a big Hilary fan and now I convinced her to vote for McCain.

something that helped her change her mind was how Obama won the senator election.

FYI he was the only one on the ballot he got everyone off legally.
Not me, while I admire Hillary and would vote for her if she were the nominee, I do not admire, respect or trust Obama and will not be voting for him. In fact I'll be voting McCain.
Most of Hillary's supporters are wise enough to know she's doing what she has to do right now. We will all make up our own minds for ourselves. She knows it as well as we do.
none, everyone knows hillary was the right choice not that stupid phony muslim that won't win a state and will lose all ';57'; states to McCain////
Fewer than Obama hopes for, for sure.
My mom was a big Hillary fan, now she said she's just going to vote for Obama because its her party.
None. They'll vote for him because he's the best candidate.
that wrinkly white hair guy and his supporters hopes for few.
Not me. I'm voting for McCain.
    None that I know.
    None
    not me.

well I was a hillary supporter and campaigner for her and I am voting for the democratic party to support Obama. I think obama might ask her to be vice president only because he knows her well and why would she be out there campaigning on his behalf sounds VP like. I don't see any other person doing that and I think obama needs to grant her the VP spot it could happen at the convention.
most will because majority of voters will stay with there own party

    I will.

Okay so im only 14 years old and im 5''1 i really want to grow to be a 5''5. if i can..how?? I NEED ADVICE

Eat healthy foods and consume enough protein. Your body grows when it has good nutrients around - and that's about the only part you have control over.Okay so im only 14 years old and im 5''1 i really want to grow to be a 5''5. if i can..how?? I NEED ADVICE
I'm 5'6.....i wanted to get taller for modeling.

just drink milk and exercise, stretching you legs out helps alsoOkay so im only 14 years old and im 5''1 i really want to grow to be a 5''5. if i can..how?? I NEED ADVICE
    alright heres the plan

    option 1

    get some plat form shoes

    option 2

just sit one some guys shoulders for long periods of time

    option 3

stop whining and just wait a bit
Well you can try doing some pull-ups everyday that could increase your height.
Well, hate to break it to you, but if it's not in your genes, it's not happening.

Trust me I know how it feels - I'm 16 and 5'2';... for four and a half years.

However you are still young so it's likely you may get a small growth spurt.
Nothing you can really do besides eat right. No worries though chances are you'll get at least 2 more inches if you're just 14. you might get taller you might not. i went from being the shortest kid tot eh tallest in my class after about 2 years time.

I really want to be thin! im starting my diet sat. once i get back from vacation. any advice or tips? :?

Your main aim should not be wanting to get thin but rather get healthy. Losing weight should be a side effect of increasing your fitness, My tips:

    1. excercise for 30-45 minutes every day, if your not used to it start by simply walking around the block a few times or using a bike or treadmill. I really like low intensity aerobic work outs too

    2. Limit your intake of carbohydrates to breakfast and lunch. this means no pasta, rice, bread for dinner and no dessert.

    3. Cut your intake of saturated fat such as meat fat and fat from cheese and milk and choose low fat alternatives. Eat good fat like avocado, a few nuts such as almonds

    4. take a multi vitamin tablet to strengthen you as you start to work out

    5. most importantly make sure you eat at least 5 servings of vegetables and 2 servings of fruit a day. This should fill you up and reduce your overall calorie intakeI really want to be thin! im starting my diet sat. once i get back from vacation. any advice or tips? :?
One of the most effective ways to be thin is to have healthy eating habits.

Don't worry so much about dieting, as you are likely to lose then gain weight. Focus instead on

    1. Introducing exercise into your life. Doesn't matter if it is walking to the shops a couple times a week, swimming, joining a social tennis club etc as long as you have variety, do it regularly and enjoy it.

    2. Look at your current diet and start to change some things. Reduce the amount of meat you eat, add in more salads or vegetables (lettuce is a good source of fibre and makes you feel full quickly). Look for healthy breakfasts.

Once you are in a healthy eating pattern, you can then drop it back one step and diet easily, then go back to the healthy eating pattern afterwards and keep the fat off.I really want to be thin! im starting my diet sat. once i get back from vacation. any advice or tips? :?

If I feel that the lawyer have been too complacent and have not worked aggresively on my case causing me to overstay my visa, can i appeal and still be given retroactive validity of my stay?I do not want to leave the country without clearing it up but I do not want to be subject to deportation either. Can i appeal with USCIS if i feel that i have been given faulty legal advice by lawyer?
No the legal advice you accept is on you. That's freedom my friend. You're free to do good with your life. But you're also free to do bad. lt's up to you to make the right choices. Be a man about your decisions and face the consequencesCan i appeal with USCIS if i feel that i have been given faulty legal advice by lawyer?
Just claiming that you received ';faulty legal advice'; may not be enough. Did you follow the procedure below?

';In Matter of Lozada, supra, at 639-40, we set forth the procedural requirements for a claim of ineffective assistance of counsel, noting that they were necessary to provide a basis for evaluating the many claims presented, to deter baseless allegations, and to notify attorneys of the standards for representing aliens in immigration proceedings. First, we held that the alien must submit an affidavit detailing the agreement that was entered into with counsel with respect to the actions to be taken and the representations counsel

made or did not make in this regard. We also stated that the alien must inform counsel of the allegations of ineffective assistance and give him or her the opportunity to respond.

Finally, we concluded that the alien must file a complaint with the appropriate disciplinary authorities, such as a state bar,

    with respect to any violation of counsel鈥檚 ethical or legal responsibilities, or adequately explain why no filing was made. In addition to these requirements, an alien alleging ineffective assistance of counsel must also show that he or she was prejudiced by the actions or inactions of counsel.';

  • I am going to be a father for the first time what should i expect or any advice?

i am married my wife is 5 months and we found out it is going to be a girl just coming on her for some advise and just to learn things i should knowI am going to be a father for the first time what should i expect or any advice?
First off a huge Congratulations!! Here is my list......

1 - Your lives are about to change forever.

2 - Let your instincts do the talking (yes, fathers do get those!). You can dream up 100 sitituations in your head about how you will react to certain problems. Believe me, you will know what to do when things happen.

3 - Be involved!!! Change that diaper. Think about your poor little one having to sit in her own mess, and change her! My husband was and is, VERY hands on with our daughter. I will grow to be an old woman and always love and respect him for the father he is.

4 - Enjoy your little girl. Allow yourself to get lost in the greatest love on earth! Little girls have the habit of wrapping their fathers around their little pinkies!

5 - Most important... Don't have more kids than you can handle. Think of the quality of your childs life. What do you want to show her of the world? We topped out at 1 child. We do everything from movies, park, museums. She's been traveling since she's been born! Been to Disney World 3 times, Disneyland countless times. We took her on an international vacation when she was only 10 months old. Show her the world, then teach her how to get it.I am going to be a father for the first time what should i expect or any advice?
Better get used to your wallet being flat out broke cause thats what I do to my dad. Lol. Expect maybe a bit of control on the girls side of the family as there is more. So prepare you may have a drama queen on the way.

Ok. This is long, complicated and boring, but any advice would be great! Thanks

Ok I am bisexual and i have really liked this girl for about 6 months now. She don't know I am bisexual. We started talking like friends a while back then i realised i actually really liked her and we became proper close, we would always flirt loads, talk loads and see eachother lots and she would do and say things that would really give me the impression she liked me. Then i asked her if she wanted to do something one day before I went away (holiday) and she was like yeah sure pizza hut or something? Is sarah going? .. (another girl) and i said up to you i dont mind, and she said yeah otherwise we will look like we are ona lesbian date, and when i said sarah couldnt go, she wouldnt go out! - i dont understand that at all and it upset me alot.

so i text her saying look seriously are you insecure about yourself or something? - not very sensative i know but i was upset.

since then she has blocked me online, we dont speak to eachother when we see eachother - why would she react this way?

I went away and i thought excellent im over her, but then we havent even talked and i still realise i like her! its crazy no matter what i do i cant move on!

I decided to text her cos i heard she was ill, so i said hiya i know im not your favorite person atm but heard you were ill, hope you feel betetr soon. She replied like what im fine with you! how are you etc

I dont understand how she can have such a slit personality, blocking me, ignoring me - then acting like its all good?

so i said look i know you have blocked me cos you are online on a old account you tell me to contact you when im home so we can go out and you ignore me. aparently she hasnt been online in a month - bullsh*t. So i said look its all since that text so i know somethings up, if you need to talk to anyone, you know where im here. No text back or anything.

I dont know what to do, I have had a incering before i even knew her properly she could be gay or bi. But I dont know what I should do, im thinking i may aswel tell her i am bisexual, see if it reasures her or something.

I just think theres too much there for me to just forget it. Maybe im being naive.

any advice, suggestions? Thanks for reading this long long long silly thing! :) Ok. This is long, complicated and boring, but any advice would be great! Thanks
I think she either really wants to be just Friends with you but is getting scared off, or else she does have feelings for you but doesnt want to admit it to herself so is trying to avoid you. I think the best thing to do would be to have a talk with her pretending that you are scared because you have feelings for girls, but dont mention her, and if she likes you she will say she has the same problem, but if she doesnt just try to move on. Difficult situation tho!

Gudluk!Ok. This is long, complicated and boring, but any advice would be great! Thanks
to be honest this question leaves me clueless, cause like it very possible that she not bisexual, and i would like to ask you this why are you a bisexual?
Maybe she isn't, maybe u got the wrong impression. I think you should just forget about her and find a boyfriend
Your Friend probably just got a bit scared that's all, lots of people are homophobic especially if it comes as a shock, I am bi and my friend was shocked when I first told her and it was the same situation that you are in, but everything ok now and we accept each others differences I must admit I was pretty scared when I told her which is probably how you feel now. I'm 14, How old are you?

    Hope it helps x
This girl is being immature. I'd leave her and find someone else if i were you. I'm gay. The whole school knows due to certain reasons that i'd rather not elaborate on.

Anyway. I have friends both male and female. When i want to meet up with them but only one of my male friends can go and no female friends, he still meets up with me because he cares more about me than what other people think of him. Your 'friend' obviously cares more about her image than you. Horrible but true.

She doesn't deserve you. For your own well being, find someone else.
I am not sure what you would accomplish by telling her that you are bi- sexual. Seems pretty cut and dry that she didn't want to be in a situation where it may appear to others that she was on a date with you, this leads me to think that she already is aware on some level as to your orientation. Sounds like she blocked you and then didn't have the nerve to defend her decision when asked directly about it. Not sure why you would have a hard time getting over someone that has no interest and is possibly not the most sensitive regarding your sexual orientation. Good luck!

    L
I think the reason that she is now nice to you is probably because she is fine with you already and therefore want to contact you again.

If you ask me whether she is a lesbian I will doubt so but did she had a bf before? The fact that she blocked and ignore you already shown that she is afraid of you when she realized that both of you are too good of a friend that almost cross over the boundary to become lesbian thus she want to back off a bit to lower down the relationship to good friend status and not lesbians.

Maybe I'm wrong but if you would really like to know whether she is lesbian then you might want to ask her directly. My advice is never assume a person is gay/lesbian until they personally told you that they are one.
    How old are you?

Im 14 and im Bi / Lesbian. But i know how you feel. people made up rumours that i was gay i always denied it - But it turns out its true! but now people wont go out alone with me. and you kind of feel betrayed in a way because they cant trust you. but i think the best thing you can do is tell her the truth. If she doesnt like you for who you are, she isnt worth your heart or your friendship - You never know! she might fall into your arms and everything will be ok!

    Whatever happens... Stay Happy

  • I need advice on what to do with my exgirlfriend that just refuses to be with me but...?

She calls all the time, wants to hang out. She tells me that she is not ready to be with me again, and that if she were, she would hurt me again (she broke up the first time). She won't do anything to show me she has feelings for me, just words. I tried to kiss her, she turned her head. This is just one example. But she calls me when she is down and everything. She has a history of depression, bullimia, and other problems but I don't want to be used because of this. What should I do? Should I tell her ';I can't wait for you so I am going to date others but in the future if you want to get together, and I am single, than maybe we can work things out, but right now I don't want to talk as much';. What should I do? I don't want to be around all the time so that she thinks she doesn't have to do much to have me around when she needs me.I need advice on what to do with my exgirlfriend that just refuses to be with me but...?
Honey, life is too short for you to have to carry around her baggage. She has to get herself straight before she can bring anyone else into her life. Right now she is very needy and wants a friend. You want more and have every right to it. Cut your ties with this lady and move on in life. Shes going back to you because she has no one to turn to except you, because you know her better than anyone else. If she were to meet someone else, then that person would have to sit and understand her situation which takes time and im pretty sure they dont want to sit through it. You took her in after she broke your heart, you let her cry on your shoulder, you let her take time outta your own hands to deal with her problems..but why? you feel bad because her past historys o fdepression, bulimia and what not, right? but you can't do that. There comes a time in her life when she needs to grow up and realize that YOU can't always be there for her, you can't tell her that your gonna be single when she decides to take you back, you dont know the future so you never know if another girl is gonna cross your way. It takes time and space, and thats what you need to give her, its okay not to answer her calls, its okay to give yourself time and hang out with your boys, its okay to tell her no. Maybe one day she'll realize that she needs to quit acting stubborn and quit relying on someone.
this girl is trying to have her cake and eat it too. she wants to keep you interested so if her new relationship choice does not work out then she will still have a man. dump her quick. she is selfish and controlling. tell her that maybe you can be friends in a year or two but not now. let her know you do intend to date other women.
She still considers you a friend, someone she trusts. But you're right, it's time for you to move on. If you have caller ID, don't answer her calls. Or tell her directly: please stop calling me so much, we aren't dating anymore. You don't need to tell her you might date her in the future, and you certainly don't need to tell her that you want to date other people. She has no control over your life.

I am looking online for a new pair of shoes and the sizes have a D and EE next to them whats the difference and do I get a 11 or 10.5 D or EE or 11D or EE. I need some serious help?I am getting a new pair of work boots online and I need some help/advice. Whats the diff between D and EE?
    EE is wider than D.

If your old work boots are 10D and they fit you fine, then get another pair of that size.

What is the Most inspirational or best advice someone has given you?

Please elaborate! What is the Most inspirational or best advice someone has given you?
I don't know about MOST inspirational, but my Pop always said that ';You gotta be bigger than the problem';. Good advice in many instances. What is the Most inspirational or best advice someone has given you?
I've always been a self conscious person. One day my awesome soon to be brother-in-law sat me down and said that he loved me and that he wanted me to be whatever I wanted. He said that I had so much potential and I was wasting it by worrying about what other people would think of me. He talked about how he hasn't read a book since he was in fourth grade ( he's twenty one) and how I can read four books that are over four hundred pages long each in a couple days. He gave me a lot of confidence.
on my graduation day my dad wrote me a long note in my card that made me cry with a list of advice from him and the one that really stuck in my mind is Do what is gonna make ME happy, and not someone else and you know what i did and i has made all the difference i moved out because i wasnt happy living with my mom anymore and i am so happy now that i did it, it really was the best advice anyone has ever given me and the best advice i have taken!
When I started my First Day of School in First Grade. The boys picked on me. The Girls took me aside and told me to never let them see me cry. They told me the only reason they picked on me, is they wanted to see me cry. The girls told me if I cry, they win.

I was picked on and bullied form my very first day of school to my very last day as High School Senior. I never cried in front of the boys who picked on me.
';My dear girl, i know you can do it'; - By my Mum %26amp; family.

'; i know you are trying hard, you can do it'; - My Form Teacher.

'; An extended helping hand brightens my day. Thanks'; - Passer by.

'; Even the hardest time can be the sweetest time '; - This is something i've learn through all problems.

i've gotten F9 for my Mathematics.

And, those words my family and teacher said has really inspired me and i've jumped from a F9 to B4 within a month or so.

A passer by that i've helped unknowingly said that, and a smile is revealed.
the most inspirational advice i have ever received is by myself, i just woke up one day and decided to look at life through a different side. through a more positive way, and to make everything worthwile.
';Follow the flow and plot against.'; Not really sure what it means, but my slightly insane uncle said it and it cracks me up every time I think about it for reasons I cannot comprehend.
    Be happy, dont worry

I tell u dont worry, about a thing.

Cuz every little thing, is gonna be alright :)

i tell u dont worry about a thing

cuz every little thing is gonna be alright!
Live your life to the fullest, and always be yourself
    ';don't die';

My Dad told me this before I got deployed. I made it back. Thanks Dad.
    be calm and cool
my dad told me ''if its possible then u can do it..

that got me far in life..and also ''dont worry what will happen something have to happen anyway''

Why is it that whenever I exercise, running, I immediately get a YEAST INFECTION!!!! ANY ADVICE?

Why is it that whenever I exercise, running, I immediately get a YEAST INFECTION!!!! ANY ADVICE?

Natural remedies? Why is it that whenever I exercise, running, I immediately get a YEAST INFECTION!!!! ANY ADVICE?
you should start taking the bacteria ';acidophilus'; you can get it at a drug store and it is the natural bacteria that is found in yogurt. i have what is called ';resistant yeast'; and have to take it and it works great.

good luck! Why is it that whenever I exercise, running, I immediately get a YEAST INFECTION!!!! ANY ADVICE?
You need to get out of your damp workout clothes ASAP and shower. Cotton is actually bad because it does not dry quickly - use a wicking fabric that dries quickly when you work out.

Also it may be you have a low grade yeast infection all the time that flares up when you work out because of the moisture and the over-the-counter treatments suppress it but don't completely cure it. See your gyno and get a prescription oral medication that may get rid of it completely.
What kind of underwear are you wearing? Women should only wear 100% cotton to help prevent infections. Cotton is breathable. You might be sweating too much and if you are not wearing cotton you are trapping sweat down there.

Link will answer many questions and answers you should know. I have 3 accounts (never put all your money/eggs in one account/basket). You can start with $500 when you can afford to open account. Since you are just starting you will lose money if you don't learn the basics, first. #1 best tip, don't trade your real money until you try trading demo account. When you can trade a demo for about 2-3months daily and make money then if you feel ready slowly start trading real money. So making and/or losing money depends on how well you can trade. For some it very profitable, for many it is not.

Know when and the fundamental news that affects price swings are reported. Stay clear during these volatile times because they can take out your stop in a heartbeat and a few beats later go back the other way. And remember that the news could already be mostly priced into the current price. And don't trade against current trends.

I use Lightning Strikes Trading System for trading in any time frame and it works on forex, stocks, bonds, etf's, mutual funds, etc... You can even watch some recorded past live sessions. Here are some past charts that I used.

There are 7 indicators (2 short, 2 medium, and 3 long term) and if volume is reported another one is added (on balance volume). Plus whatever time-frame is used the 2 green horizontal lines are the support and resistance for that time frame. So when indicators are all touching the bottom price is at or very, very near support. At top is at or very, very near resistance. Which helps my entry/exits and risk/reward ratio.

Is a CPA responsible for giving bad advice on non-profit tax filings?

If a non-profit org should have been filing federal returns and should have filed for a tax exemption, but has a letter from a CPA saying it doesn't need to, will the CPA have to pay the fines that the IRS dishes out for failure to file?Is a CPA responsible for giving bad advice on non-profit tax filings?
You can ask the CPA to pay the penalties.

You can sue the CPA for negligence if he doesn't.

The non-profit should ask the IRS to waive the penalties. Is a CPA responsible for giving bad advice on non-profit tax filings?
Dear B: Most professionals have a dis claimer to not only protect their name but to inform people about the law and the fact that it changes from year to year. If the CPA informed you wrong and it was intentional I would think you need an attorney. If it was an honest mistake I think you are out of luck. The IRS will waive fines if you relied upon advice from an IRS agent and it was wrong but for a CPA I doubt it. Write a letter and ask.

  • Tanning first time, please don't mention dangers, just want to be a few shades darker? please need advice!

[ FIRST OF ALL please don't tell me about all the dangers of skin cancer and don't tell me about self-tanners, I will appreciate it but you will be wasting your time! ]

I have very fair skin. Pale. I would like to go tanning a little before I go on my family reunion trip, because I am very afraid I will get sunburned there!

    I do tan easily.

So I'd like to build up a slight base tan so I don't get burned.

I am very fair - like Lindsay Lohan fair.

I am going to try a stand-up bed. How do I protect my face? Is wearing SPF 30 good enough?

And I should put high SPF sunscreen where I don't want to tan, right?

I'm thinking of putting like SPF 8 tanning oil where I DO want to tan?

How long and how often should I go?

I'm thinking for first session like 8 minutes, 2 times a week.

give me some pointers, I just want to be a few shades darker.

and don't tell me about cancer or self tanners because you'll be wasting your time and I won't read your answer.Tanning first time, please don't mention dangers, just want to be a few shades darker? please need advice!
If you are going to a tanning salon, they will assess your skin type and determine how long to start you at. Also tell them what you want to achieve as far as results and any good salon will recommend a product that is suitable(not just sell you some crap). I too was very pale, always burnt in the sun, very fair, and started with an accelerator lotion(no bronzers) and a lotion with SPF 4 for my face with a slight bronzer i bought at the salon, and have been very pleased with the results.

As far as looking blotchy or fake, If you stay away from triple bronzers or bronzers period you should not look orange.

I have been tanning 3 times a week for over a year now and having extremely dry skin since i was born, tanning has been a godsend to me and i have never looked better, plus with the added benefit of the uv light through a cold canadian winter, my mood was alot better. People should try tanning before they knock it, because people who do it feel the benefit of it and continue to do it because they know they look good(at least the ones who dont use alot of bronzers LOL) and feel good as well, hope this was slightly helpfulTanning first time, please don't mention dangers, just want to be a few shades darker? please need advice!
    Tans look disgusting?

So if you don't have fair skin, it's disgusting?

    Whatever.
You could get skin cancer! Haha im just kidding...

I would say if you were gonna do it, then go outside. You can tell when someone is fake-and-baking. It looks fake as hell and looks bad, leaves big botches ect. Definetally do it outside. I dont wear sun screen so Im not sure, I just go outside alot, not for the purpose of tanning.
I am also fair skinned, but tan pretty easily. I started going to tanning beds about a month ago and here is what I did.

I started my first session off at 5 minutes. When I saw that I wasn't burned, I upped it to 7. I stayed at seven for two days, then went to 10. After two days of 10, I went to 12. I burnt at 12, so I took a day off and went back to 10. The trick is to start at around 5-7 minutes and then increase by 2 minutes as long as you are not burning.

If you want to wait a while to get a tan, then 2 times a week is fine. However, it usually takes around 4 sessions to get a decent ';base tan';, and then you start building color. I recommend going every day, or even every other day for 2 weeks. After that, go twice a week to maintain your color.

You might want to speak with an employee about their beds. The beds I use are ';super beds'; with no more than 20 minutes allowed. Where my mom goes, they have 15 minute beds. You will need to determine a schedule based on how powerful the beds are. For example, you could burn in one bed, but not another.

I alos highly recommend a ';bronzing'; bed once a week. These are usually considered an upgrade bed and cost a little more, but they help to even you out on places that you do not get tanned (your sides, for example) and also help you to get the bronze look that you want.

As for lotions, if you can stand to use a ';hot'; tingle lotion, these give the best results. I use Designer Skin's ';Siren'; and find that it gives excellent results. But the tingle lotions can produce a ';hot'; sensation that can be uncomfortable. If you have sensitive skin, I wouldn't recommend this.

I also used Designer Skin's ';Freedom'; which was excellent but wasn't quite giving me the results I wanted *I tan EVERY SINGLE DAY!* However, if you are just wanting to go a few shades darker, then it could be a good lotion for you. You can also ask the employee at the tanning salon what they recommend. That's what I did.

The lotions at the salon are more pricey than say, a lotion bought at Walmart, but they also give far better results. My sister in law is using a cheaper lotion bought from the store and hasn't nearly gotten the results that I have. They are definitley worth the money.

Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please feel free to shoot me a message :)
i love to get a nice, healthy glow in the summer myself. gets me ready for summer.... ditching the pale, winter, sweater and jacket skin for olive, summer, halter top skin.... and the best thing i can suggest is to lay-out in the sun.... it's cheaper and the results last longer.... and, though i am no dermatologist, it makes sense to me that it's probably better for your skin to darken up the natural way as opposed to zapping your body with a high powered light bulb.

my tanning routine is this: i use a good drug store tanning oil with spf 8. (none of that $70 salon bs for me.... i mean really.... can it be THAT much better?). then i lay out for about 2 hours.... one for each side (you, being so fair, may want to spend a little less time) and then i use a good, rich after-sun lotion (no leathery skin and wrinkles for me, thank you).... sit for an hour (cos i hear immediately showering is bad.... though i really don't know.... could be a load of bs, but i still do it). and then shower and moisturize as usual. i get great results.... lots of complements on my skin tone. but it does take a few sessions.... so you may wanna start soon in order to achieve your goal in time.

oh! and p.s. drink a lot of water.... good for your skin's all around health.... moisture... the best way to fight off all the negative effects of tanning.

hope i was helpful... and good luck!
i find that if you buy a suntan lotion that help make u darker and lay out in the sun for a while that will help a lot... but the self tanners kinda turn you orange sometimes (i dont no from experience) the only thing i can say about tanning beds is that they dont work immediatly... they take a while and dnt overdo how much you go.
do the spray tanning and not the bulbs. you can pick the exact color you want
The tanning lotions that they sell in stores can make tanning really bad for your skin and you will end up with bad results. The lotion they sell at the tanning stores work really well and make your skin soft and not so leathery. They are expensive, but if you want good results and dont want to look like a lobster buy their products. Most tanning salons have samples of the lotions so you can save money since you just want to get a few shades darker. If you want to splurge then go ahead and invest in those lotions they work great! Hope that helps.
Keep your fair skin, tans look disgusting.
Because you are fair skinned, it is important to tan slowly. always apply tanning lotion first. To avoid overcooking your skin, stay in the sun for only a half hour the first day. The second day add another half hour. Add more time as the days go by until you get the tone you want. The process might take a few days but you will glad you are not a big blister. Good Luck
I have been tanning in beds for a while and started off with fair skin. You should start off 8-10 minutes, if you burn you should skip a day or two and then go back with less time. You should gradually build up to 20 minutes never burning. Also make sure you use a good indoor tanning lotion made for indoor tanning because moist skin tans better than dry.

Why is there so much lame fitness advice around?

Especially HERE. Most of the people who answer questions about working out have NO CLUE what they are talking about.

If you don't think that applies to YOU, then think again - it DOES.

Love JackWhy is there so much lame fitness advice around?
I say don't listen to anyone that can't back up their advice with some kind of REAL knowledge base. I invite everyone to go to acefitness.org and search me- (Lela Simon) you will find that I really AM a certified PT...not just a dumb broad with a subscription to Exercise RX! :)Why is there so much lame fitness advice around?
I half agree with you. I'll admit, sometimes I'd like to think I know what I'm talking about, but it's simple things, like

-diets don't work; you can't cut out food groups

-one must exercise and pay attention to portions

What I don't know I'll look up on the internet, although I know it's not always right. I'm transferring schools next year to study nutrition, so of course I'd like to see if I can help others.

I personally get annoyed when there are teens asking/answering questions such as

    -how to lose weight quickly

-how to lose weight from one body part

-what diet pills work the most

    -if they're pregnant

And if they get an answer they don't want to hear but might be the right answer, someone will give it a thumbs down.

Or just questions that no one but their own doctor should know the answer too.

Slightly off topic.. my personal favorite is if you go to the math/science section there are always kids posting their homework questions!
dude, 80% of the people on yahoo answers are teenagers in high school!!!

what kind of advice do you think they will give each other!

i stick to the bird section, where i help 12yr olds who's parents get them a budgie and then refuse to drive the bird to a vet (grr, some way to teach responsiblity! force a kid to watch a bird die!), and when i'm really bored, i visit some of the social (oppinion/ personal problem sections). i have never aksed for or given fitness advice.

if i wanted REAL info about anything i'd google it! i'd not ask here!

the only think i can think of asking people here seriously is ';i'm in such-n-such place in my life at now, what should i do'; because that's the one thiing humans are better at than google. i'd also put in my question ';adults only!'; if it was a question about jobs or careers or marriage or something kids don't know anything about.

question is -- why do you think you can get good advice from 12-to16 yr olds and why do you think complaining about it will do any good?

u want fitness advice? use GOOGLE.
    Hi Love Jack

I think in general there is so much lame advice in fitness due to liability and litigation

Everyone is scaredy cat about getting sued

    Love ME :)
Your name is Jack and you're annoyed about 'jacked-up'; advice? heheheh
I figure if you can help one person. Why not. If you don't like the site, don't go there.
    lol idk.

He's 19 months old and driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?

My son is almost 2 years old, He cries all the time, fall out and want things his way and no other wayand He wants me to carry him all day long. (I really think he's afraid of people outside of the ones he know). I'm so tired of people negative comments, but sometimes I do feel that I cannot control him. Today he was extremly out of order and I spaked his hand(not hard) then he became frightened. I have tried time out. And now I am at the point whereas I am scared to have him out in public unless I am holding him, because I do want the attention on myself and my child. Please keep any negative comments to yourself, I have heard enought of that. I need someone who can share advice and contructive critisism along with experience. Thank you so very much in advance. I appreciate you. He's 19 months old and driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Okay, sweetie now you need to honestly stop being a push over because aww hes so cute. You may think these comments will be negative because it pertains to your parenting skills. Trust me I know! My daughter is now 3 and for awhile you just say aww and you feel bad when you have to discipline them. You need to nip it in the bud hun before hes too old! Okay so heres what you need to do. If you think you can get past it without it then I feel bad for you because the worse thing is to be embarrased in public.

1st- practice discipline at home. this is where it starts. as bad as it may sound. HE NEEDS TO FEAR WHAT YOU WILL DO IF HE DOESNT OBEY. (i am not suggesting abuse because thats ridiculous). what I mean is you need to show him you are the boss and he is the baby. yes he will test you because thats what kids do

2nd- as someone stated previously let him cry. not only just let him cry do not show any emotion that is negative or sad or any reaction. for example he gets mad jumps his little butt on the floor screaming saying he wants ice cream. you say i said NO if you wanna cry fine cry by yourself. AND LEAVE HIM RIGHT THERE. after awhile he will start to think man this doesn't work. children are sponges they soak up all they can and they are testy little creatures.

3rd- take things from him. example lets see...back to the ice cream. he jumps down screaming about something you say if you dont stop that right now you will not get your ice cream and i will take it and give it to a good little boy. dont you want to be mommies good little boy? he will start thinking a couple things...1 oh no mommy will find another baby? and also please dont take my ice cream.

i use these thing on my daughter when i saw that being nice to a 2 year old isnt always the answer. we have to put our foots down and take charge before they take charge of us and then its not cute!

Its really hard to listen to people and for them to criticize your parenting skills but sometimes we need to listen to it. (everyone isnt always right because you have to experience certain things in order to give advice)

I have experienced it and the first time my daughter embarrassed me was the last.

Also try to the 1 2 3 method.....i never get past 2 really.

make there be a consequence if you get past 3... honestly spanking!!1 spank his little hand or bottom never anything else. but it triggers his little brain saying man if mom gets to 3 it will hurt.

    Hope this helps..

Good Luck and what happens from this point on is all in your hands... You can either be proud of your baby in public or ashamed!!!He's 19 months old and driving me crazy!!!!!!!!!!!ADVICE WOULD BE GREAT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!?
Your welcome. I hope it helps! Good Luck Hun. :)

Ever hear of Terrible Two's? Just be patient. He'll outgrow this behavior, but you do have to be firm about disipline. That doesn't necessarily mean spanking, but the time out is a good one. It'll work eventually. Don't take him out into public if you don't need to. Good luck. I know, this is really frustrating to you. I've been there, but before you know it, he'll be grown up and moving out and then you'll miss his temper tantrums.LOL. You really will!!
First of all I am really sorry about your situation. It sounds rough. Second, as hard as it is, my advice to you is to just let him cry when he acts that way. In my opinion, he has learned that crying is how he gets his own way. If you quit responding to it, then he will learn that it isn't going to work and he will eventually stop. He has to learn that you are the boss, not him. Even if you are in the middle of the grocery store, just let him cry. I know it will be embarassing but anybody with kids will understand. Just tell him you love him but you are not going to carry him. Of course it is okay for him to cry when something is really wrong and then he should be held, but not when he is throwing a tantrum just for the sake of being held. He senses your frustration and your desire to do anything to get him to quit crying in public, and he uses that to get his own way. 2 year olds are very smart! Don't let him sense your frustation because that is just engaging him more into the drama. Keep your cool, show him you are in control of the situation, and this should get better with time.
This is easy. I have 3 and I am the BOSS!!! I know this is hard but you have to strike a certain fear in your children, or they WILL run over you and drive you crazy..my children were/ are well behaved because they KNEW that I was NOT playing with them. I ment what I said and said what I ment. I also joked and played alot so that they would know the difference.
I am going through the same thing right now with my son who just turned 2.I think it is a phase they go through???I try to limit his sugar and caffine intake and that seems to help some.Just hang in there you can get through this.As for all the negative commenst from people, you just have to ignore them and don't let them get to you.Good luck:)
Keep trying the time outs..and hang in there,,,if he is afraid of people and public places do your best to leave him at home when you want to get out try taking him to a park he will be able to get to know other kids...
I know it's tough-I have an 18 month old and he is learning to test the boundries. I feel it's also time he really learned what ';no'; is- because he hits and pinches to express himself, so I smack his hand (not hard, like you) and let him see in my face that I am serious. he is old enough to learn discipline like yours, and like the person above me said, show them who is boss.

Too many parents end up with the kid controlling the parent instead of the other way around just because they are fearful...
i agree with the person above me ....when i was younger i was the same way and i would just cry when i wanted somthing and i learned that it was the way to get what i want but when my parents started ignoring it i knew that it wasnt going to work anymore
I understand your frustration. I have worked with kids for 10 years and have a two year old myself! Different things work for different kids. It sounds like he's having some trouble expressing himself. Toddlers get very overwhelmed with their feelings and don't know what to do with them. Help him vocalize his feelings--communication is also new to them! You want to teach good problem solving skills and right now he's throwing fits to get his way and it's working. Try getting down on his level and talking to him. ';Are you scared?'; and teach him to say ';I'm scared'; Once he can vocalize his feelings you can then begin to help him through it. If he has a comfort stuffed animal or blankie maybe he could hold that instead of holding you....you may have to try several things but whatever you do stay consistant and loving!

Advice on which camera handphone to buy & which megapixle is better?

I am a student who wanted to buy a camera handphone which has the basics of calling %26amp; smsing %26amp; a pretty clear camera, but cheap. The rest of the functions are not so impt. So, any advice, or any personal handphones to recommand me?

I had checked out the singtel webby, but the info are too hard for me to understand.Advice on which camera handphone to buy %26amp; which megapixle is better?
If for you price is not a problem, get a Nokia's N95. It has 5-megapixle camera. This is the best camera handphone at this moment. It is also user-friendly. But sometimes it will hang as it operated on symbian.

The Sony Ericsson latest phone W880i is another worth consider choice. It is slim and it has 2-megapixle camera. The price is also steeper than other same resolution camera phone.

The Nokia 6288 would have a reasonable price and it has a 2-megapixle camera. This nokia phone would not hang easily as it is operating on Nokia Series 40 platform.

The Sony Ericsson k800i is also another phone that is worth your money. It feature a 3.2-megapixle camera. But one problem is the phone has been is a market for a period of time already.

Hope the above information helps you in nuying your phone!Advice on which camera handphone to buy %26amp; which megapixle is better?

A very tight food plan and more exercise!!!

go to bookstore for Dr Bernstein's book. You can read parts of it here:

    http://www.diabetes-book.com/readit.shtm鈥?/a>

He has some excellent ideas on controlling carbs and weight and insulins!!

You do realize that you cannot just eat as much carb as you want and cover it with insulins without gaining weight, don't you?
You would need to go over any weight loss plan with your endocrinologist and/or dietician. That said, a few things have helped me keep my weight where I want it. Any extra exercise you can work into your day helps; I started taking the stairs every day to my fourth floor office, and it has helped tone my body, as well as improving my overall cardiovascular health. Drinking plenty of water is always a plus, and spreading small meals out (or having snacks between somewhat smaller meals) also helps. Remember that the health is the most important focus for you, so running plans past your doctor(s) is critical.
Sticking to a low carb diet and reducing your insulin so that you aren't low all the time. My body responds the very best when I cut out carbs almost completely and the weight just falls off. Don't be stupid about it and replace the carbs with a bunch of meat. Balance out your diet and make sure to eat plenty of vegetable. The most important thing not to have is bread, pizza, pasta, etc. Also, as a diabetic you'll probably really benefit from some cardio workouts. Make sure to eat plenty before you begin and have a snack and juice on hand in case of emergency. Insulin is the worst thing for making you gain weight. When I began it I gained about 12 lbs in a week (I needed it then, but now that I don't I hate the way it keeps me chunky). I find that doing a lot of walking is really helpful in slimming me down without the worry of too many severe lows. I used to walk all over my campus to classes and could fit into pants from high school. Walking is definitely great for toning and melting off the pounds (if you can do enough) but you will probably need to reduce your overall insulin for the day.
make an appointment with your doctor to rule out a medical cause for the weight gain.

  • After pregnancy advice, could it be UTI or did doc do something wrong???

I just had my daughter on July 11th and had alot of painful pressure and not normal bleeding, my baby was 8 lbs 8.9 ounces and I had what they call the star tear not just going in one direction so there was alot of stitching, because of the constant pain I went back to the same doctor a week later and found out alot of that pressure was from a gauze pad he had left inside of me which when removed took off alot of the pressure and he just gave me Vicodin for the pain. A day later I kept feeling a strong painful urge to urinate and couldnt go but maybe a tiny bit at a time so I had my husband get me some cranberry juice and the next day I could go but it hurt extremely bad, since then I have had such bad vaginal pain that it hurts to the touch or when I am sitting down, could this be effects from the gauze being left inside of me or is this UTI symptoms? I would appreciate any advice on the subject, I really need some relief both physically and mentally. Thanks to anyone who replies. After pregnancy advice, could it be UTI or did doc do something wrong???
I also had a 9 lb boy (large boned and head the size of 10-12 lb baby) and tore really bad, the dr. quit counting stitches at 100and it took him an hr to sew me up, and I had the pressure and pain and bled forever. It hurt to just stand and felt like everything was going to fall out! The dr. had said I was having a small baby while I was in the labor room! The pressure and pain lasted for mo. I was young (17)and dumb and thought it was just from having a baby. I had moved to a dif. state and had a dif. dr. When my son was 1 1/2 I went back home to my reg dr. and he said I still had tears in my uterus that hadn't healed. He cauterized them right then and I got better in a few wks. I had been having long painful periods with heavy bleeding and had no energy because of it. Please go to a different dr and get ckd. Yes the gauze could have caused the uti and those are painful also. I hope you are better soon and can enjoy your new little one! After pregnancy advice, could it be UTI or did doc do something wrong???
Yes, that is most likely a UTI. The gauze left inside possibly got infected and created a bacterial infection.
I might try another OB/GYN. Leaving the gauze in is highlly unprofessional and dangerous.
I think u need to find another doctor and have a check up done because that doesnt sound like a UTI to me.
Does it burn to pee or does it burn where the stitches are. When my first child was born, it burned for 3 weeks where the stitches were. My doctor gave ms some spray that relived it. Call your and see what your doctor thinks. It could be something else. Good luck
i don't know that the guaze left behind could cause a UTI, but what your are describing certainly sounds like a UTI....i'd head back to the Dr.....just to make sure
The tear could cause the discomfort when sitting. I personally would not have an OBGYN that thinks tearing is better than a controled cut. Also leaving gauze in you doesn't sound all that responsible either. Maybe you should go to an urgent care and get checked out . As for the other symptoms a UTI may be to blame esp. with the knowledge he left things behind that probably became unsanitary and spread bacteria to your urinary tract. Go see another doctor at an urgent care facility ASAP. At this point I would be a little concerned that he may be trying to cover his own tracks with mistakes he made rather than be honest about what is wrong with your recovery. Good luck. PS Are you using sits bath it really helps , as does the inflatable ring you sit on.
Sorry to hear you are having such a difficult time, but congratulations on becoming a mom.

It sounds as if you could have an UTI, especially since the Doc left a gauze pad inside of you. I would suggest that you make an appointment with an urologist or have your primary care physician do a urine culture. If this is clear then I would see a different Ob/gyn for an additional check-up.

Good luck and I hope you are feeling better soon.
go to the er now . and find a lawyer and sue that doctor. did you keep the proof of the gauze being left in you if not get it. you probably have a very bad infection go to the er now
It could be septis which can be fatal. This is a serious infection. My friend ended up in a comma for over a month due to it after her daughters birth. She had seven surgeries from this %26amp; lost 6 inches of her bowel and had seven drains sticking out of her body to remove the seeping infections. Keep track of your temp. If you have even a slight fever get to the ER.

    Dont take this lightly.
Call your doctor... or another doctor... you need treatment either way
I would go to the EMERGENCY ROOM IMMEDIATELY!
go to the emergency room. you need treatment now.
My question to you would be... Is the pain inside or outside? Try to figure out which it is. If it's inside, you need to see another doctor. If it's outside, it could be from the swelling and the stitches because of the trauma you had during child birth. If this is the case, try sitting in a tub of warm water and urinating. If your're really miserable, you won't even think this sounds grose!! LOL! If this eases the pain, just do this, and the warm soaks will also ease the pain through the day. If this isn't effective, call the doctor. You probably have an infection. Call sooner than later! Now GO GET IN THAT TUB! LOL!
wow, i have heard of that before where dr's leave the gause in, that can be very dangerous. since you are still having bad pains and pressure, i would recomend going to see either the same dr, if you still trust him, or another one and get a second opinion. best of luck! and congrats on the new baby!
I was torn like that after both of my children and I was in a large amount of pain like that. When the stitches started to heal I felt much better. It sound like you should maybe call the doctor anyway and tell him what is going on because it may be something else. Good luck!!
i would go to the doctor asap.
Sounds like a UTI. Could be an infection from the gauze. After I had my first child, I got very sick, sore, it was just aweful. I went to the doctor and I had an infection in my womb because it didn't close like it was suppose to. I really feel you go back to your doctor and talk to him about your pain because my doctor told me that if I hadn't come in when I did the infection would spread and I could have died.
basically you've had an episiotomy...i also had one.. but not painfull

just relax as much as possible..dont worry about not going..

its going to be painfull until your fully healed..usually in 2-3 weeks.

prince lionheart makes a Pillow for sitting on after you've had an episiotomy... it may make things a bit more comfortable.

i doubt you have a UTI...your bodys just trying to get back to normal after pregnancy and birth..

get an ENEMA to keep the area clean..also the hospital gave me tucks pads to relieve discomfort.

I need advice i just got over a divorse and i want to be with someone else but its hard?

i am a mother of 3 little ones and i am afraid of what my ex h maight do if he faind out iam dathing some one but he is the past and i dont know if there is any great guy that will want to date me i am not old or to youngill be 22 this month so if any advise please let me know.I need advice i just got over a divorse and i want to be with someone else but its hard?
Don't rush into anything. It might be hard for you to get back into the dating since you have been out of it for awhile. Just take it slow easing make into the dating scene. I am sure there is someone out there who you will find when the time is right. This guy will be one who loves you for you and your little ones too. He will love spending time with the 4 of you any time he can. There are guys out there like this but you can't find them yourself. Just let them find you. Don't get frustated if it takes some time but don't go searching for him because then you will start doubting yourself and hurt your self esteem. Hope this helps you out.I need advice i just got over a divorse and i want to be with someone else but its hard?
    Try online dating!

I have a 2 yr old son who is driving me crazy. He climbs out of his carseat, wont sit in a buggy. Any advice?

He constantly whines or yells. He doesn't listen. He is a very sweet child but I am not doing something right. Please help!I have a 2 yr old son who is driving me crazy. He climbs out of his carseat, wont sit in a buggy. Any advice?
I agree with Sarah! she's absolutely right. it's so easy to forget about the praise when they're constantly behaving badly but praise even the smallest things that he does that are good. he'll love the attention.

one more thing that is important is to be consistent. if you've said he is being punished for something stick to it. don't reward him when he stops doing that thing. so say he's been screaming for whatever reason and you've said ';stop screaming or...';. if he doesn't stop screaming, punish him.or if he does stop screaming at some later stage, still punish him. it sounds harsh but they soon figure out to use it to their advantage.

that has been the hardest thing for me but i found that if i didn't say what i was going to do, then he use that to his advantage. when doing that though it's very important not to say things you're not actually going to do!!I have a 2 yr old son who is driving me crazy. He climbs out of his carseat, wont sit in a buggy. Any advice?
Try to distract him by putting toys he likes in the car or buggy with him to play with. Sit him in the car seat or buggy then hand him the toy and talk to him about it/show it to him (get him interested/distracted).

When he's playing with it, plug his seat belt in. Try not to make a fuss if he starts to make a fuss, just stay calm and neutral and carry on plugging him in. If you react to his fussy behaviour you are giving him attention which he could view as positive, if you ignore the behaviour he is not getting any emotion from you, so the idea is that he'll eventually give up.

If you plug him in without him making any fuss, give him loads of praise and attention (maybe a sticker or and activity he enjoys doing as a reward). You need to give him loads of attention for good behaviour and no attention for fussy behaviour.

    Hope this helps!
First get a quality car seat that is child proof.

Second, does he do this all the time? He may have a behavioral issue that needs medical attention... Sorry to jump to the end of the spectrum here but you CAN'T rule it out on your own. A few trips to the doctor could ease your mind and then you can concentrate on giving him the attention he needs or distracting him so he learns to play on his own.
Just the age. But you do mention sitting in a carseat or buggy. These are very inactive activities for a child. Take him to a park and wear him out before taking him on a stroll. He probably just has some pent up energy.

Are the Fat Prophets share advice worth their fee?

Investing in shares at the moment is like catching a falling kitchen knife, if you don't get it right it is likely you are going to lose a toe. One share for each toe.

I am constantly getting barraged by emails from Fat Prophets saying they can triple my money and now is an amazing opportunity that could spark growth for investors similar to the industrial revolution.

Is it worth spending money in their services in this current climate or is everyone doomed and they are only advertising so rigorously because they themselves are losing money? Are the Fat Prophets share advice worth their fee?
    1. Slow and steady wins the race. Money can be tripled over a considerable period of years; but if you want it happen in a short time, you are taking bait - it happens once in a while like a lottery.

    2. You have to be comfortable with owning and managing stocks, even when you take someone's advise and rely on them.

    3. Just like anyone else, they also need to earn their livelihood. However, the consequences are yours - it is probable you can strike goldmine.

    4. If you are not at all familiar with these kinds of investments, but are curious about it, then experiment with a very small amount that would not affect you in case it depreciates. Consider a learning process.

    5. If these are guaranteed returns, then they would rather put their efforts in becoming multi-millionaires the looking for someone over Email contacts.

    6. You got to be financially secure, so even if this venture fails, you have sufficient sources to fall back on.

    7. It seems you got in their mailing list. If you don't like it, unsubscribe. However, if you keep opening their mail out of curiosity, you will be inundated with such enticing messages. Are the Fat Prophets share advice worth their fee?
In general, a conservative financial planner who teaches, explains, listens, and encourages his clients should be worth about 1% of assets under management per year so long as he, at least, matches market returns without adding any volitity. Everybody else is worth jack...

    No, is the short answer.

The number to keep in mind is 20% per year annualized. You might, MIGHT, be able to find 100 people in the WORLD who have been able to achieve 20% annualized returns over 10 years or more. The ability to do this is EXTREMELY rare and it tends to make people billionaires. Anyone who claims this ability better be under consideration for the Forbes list or you might, logically, suspect they are lying.

Anyone who claims MORE is full of s***.
For what it is worth Fat Prophets don't guarantee triple digit returns. Although there are stocks in the portfolio which have risen this much.

FP have consistently returned around 20%+ annualised per year for each of their reports. This is a return most would be very happy with.
I worry about anybody who says they can triple your money in a short period of time. The best hedge fund managers are thrilled if their returns to 20% per year.

Advice: I'm supposed to be going on a trip in mid-July with a few friends...?

...but I really don't want to now. I'm almost 17, and my parents have given me permission to go because there aren't going to be any parents there. I don't want to go because I found out that they're bringing tons of alcohol and drugs but I obviously don't want to tell them that's the reason for cancelling. Can anyone help me think of an excuse to tell them why I can't go?Advice: I'm supposed to be going on a trip in mid-July with a few friends...?
suddenly fall ill, fake it.Advice: I'm supposed to be going on a trip in mid-July with a few friends...?
Tell them that your parents want let you go.Then get some new friends.Tell your parents what is going on.They will be so proud of you for coming to them and being honest, and being adult enought to know that alcohol and drugs and teens (or any age) is just asking for trouble.Backing out on your own is being so adult.Good for you.
tell them that you are going to school or college i am not sure what you are doing maybe getting ready for the new year *school) and therefore you have alot of things to get ready and or/ maybe you can tell them you have relatives coming at the same time you have not seen in a very long time and this is only time they are coming that may work better. good luck
if they really are your friends then why are you fretting. simply tell them that you dont feel comfortable going anymore. if they ask why say that getting stupid is just not your style of fun.
Just tell your Parents that you decided to stay home and Study, or Paint, or whatever hobby comes to your mind..
tell them you got in trouble at home and your punishment is to are no longer allowed to go on the trip
Blame it on your parents. Say that like right at the last moment your parents went crazy and said you couldnt go. Sound really mad about not being able to go and theyll totally believe it.
Either tell them now that you would be uncomfortable since you don't drink or use drugs and are too young, or wait until the last minute and cancel , saying something came up

. You don't owe anyone an explanation.
It 's a very wise decision you are making. But you should tell your parents why you are not going. You could be saving someones life.
If you don't feel comfortable telling your Friends why you do not want to go, then just lie. Tell them that your parents will not let you go.

The most important thing is that you don't go. Let them think you got into some sort of trouble with your parents and that they refuse to consider letting you go now.
Don't be afraid 2 tell them u don't want to go because of the drugs and alcohol. ppl will admire u for standing up against that, and if u lose friends o well... i wouldn't want 2 go, bcuz if they are drunk drivers who knows u may never go back home.
be the bigger person and tell them that is the reason. you would feel better standing up for your beliefs in the end. trust me. you don't want to be where you're uncomfortable the whole time. you will, of course, become known as a goody-goody, but you won't be invited to places and events that make you uncomfortable. it's better in the end. keeps you out of trouble. I mean, if you get invited to a party where you didn't know there would be drugs and underage drinking, and the party got busted, you would go down too. would you rather that or stand up for your beliefs and get left out of environments where you could go to jail?
sweetie, be different try not to fit in. if u know there will be drugs and acohol dont go. trust me if will later on lead to something you'll remeber which is not good!
tell them that u r sick or ur aunt or uncle is seriously ill and u cant come or tell them that u cant walk like something happened to ur foot.
This is a perfect time to say that your parents won't let you go. Tell your parents that you want your friends to believe that they won't let you go. You don't have to tell them why. Just tell them to trust you on this.

    They should back you up.

    Best Wishes

    .
Tell your friends you will go, but that you will not be doing drugs and alcohol. If they reject you for this reason then tell them you won't be going. My guess is that they will respect your decision to do only what you want to do. These are your friends! You must know that they engage in such things! GO! It doesn't mean YOU have to do drugs or alcohol. Friends are the most valuable and lasting thing in the world. True friendships last a lifetime, even longer that some marriages! Unless your friends are true deviates, you should go and be with them, and have fun, as long as they respect your wishes not to do these things, you are OK. At 17 you should be strong enough to stand your ground in terms of what you want to do. You will be faced with decisions all your life, some of them harder than this one. Go. Have fun. Party hard, but without the drugs and alcohol. And who knows, you just might have a real blast!
You sound like you got a good head on your shoulder's. My advice is to tell them the truth. Honesty is the best policy. If they are true friends they will understand. Plus under age drinking is very dangerous and against the law.
look if their your real friends they will understand, you just gotta tell them the right way. OR you could tell them your thinking about not going because of the drugs and alcohol but you will go if they promise you that no one will pressure you into it. and if you do go and they try to pressure you into it tell them that your sorry you just cant and that if they dont stand that their not your real friends!!! HOPE I HELPED!!!!!
I think a family member coming to visit is the most acceptable excuse to anyone. But i think it would be better to tell them straight out that what they are bringing is the contributing factor to you not wanting to go. They can either accept your independent decision or get upset. In the long run you can make tons of friends, but if your dead you can't.
honestly i would tell them why you don't want to go, and if you fear they wont be your friend anymore for this then they aren't very good friends.

but here is one i could see myself using... tell them your grounding for a week and your parents arent allowing you to go on the trip either... (also tell your parents what you told your friends in case your parents pick up the phone).

reasons why you were grounded... you took the car with out asking

    came home late

broke something valuable (saying you did it on purpose makes it sound better)

well anyway be creative i am sure you will think of something to tell them!

    good luck
say that your parents suddenly changed their mind about letting you go. Trust me it works every time.
Dont be a big baby go with your friends
Tell your parents the truth, and if you're worried about losing these ';friends';, the only thing you'd be losing are the drugs and alcohol. Your friends should reflect who you are. Is that the type of reflection you want?
Where are you going? If you are going to the beach tell them you are on your period!! ha ha lol jk!!

umm.... fake an illness, but not something common, something strange. But for the next few days act like you are totally excited about going like you just can't wait!! whooo!! Then suddenly you become ';ill'; and you feel so bad because you can't go.
Maybe you could say one of your relatives are coming into town and you never get to see them, or maybe you could come down with a sudden sickness. Or maybe you could just tell them the truth.
Honesty is always the best policy. Remember that lies beget more lies. Tell the truth.
tell them you're going to a concert or w.e. jsut lie if you ahve to......do what's right and you know what they;re gonna do is wrooooonggg
Its never a good idea to lie because it always backfires so you should just tell them why you dont want to go and if they laugh or something and you know make fun of you and stuff then they aren't real friends or at least aren't acting like they are.
I always believe honesty is best.. Just tell your friends you are not comfortable w/drinking and doing drugs, This is a choice you have made... and may I say way to go , shows me there is some really mature young adults still.... Also let your parents know why you decided not to go ... Your friends are young adults and not making good choices and it could be a dangerous situation for them.. But your parents can make a decision on what to do if anything , but they will be proud of you.... Good Luck...
well you could either be honest with your ';friends'; and tell them why you don't feel comfortable going. this would be the best way to go. you will find out who your true friends are. those that understand your feelings will still be your friends, those that disagree with how you feel probly aren't worth being friends with anyways. why waste your time with them?

but if you really feel that these are great people that you plan on being friends with then just tell them you don't feel well or it's your time of the month and you think you'd be a downer for the trip. there's plenty of excuses to use. i really think you should ask yourself if it's worth it to be friends with people that are abusing drugs and alcohol to the point that you don't wanna hang out with them. be smart!!!!

Long term marriage may be ending? Any advice?

Husband is an alcoholic. I have heart problems and depression. I have not worked in four years. He is stingy and makes good money, but will not put any in an account for me or give me cash. We built a home on land my mother gave us and we probably have about 1/3 equity of what it is worth. He makes payments and says he will not move out and that he will not let me have the house. If this happens, I do not even know where to start without money of my own to speak of, unless I sell households goods, etc. and maybe I will just to hire an attorney. Please pray that whatever happens will be for the best. Thanks. I really do not want to sell the house, we built to be close to my mother as she is aging.Long term marriage may be ending? Any advice?
good luck. i am sure that looking after your mother is the most important thing... so if you make that decision then the powers of the universe will do something to help you out.

you also said that u havent worked in four years... are you intersted in working??? if so your resume probably needs some work. contact me and i would be more than happy to assist with that as i work in the recruitment industry.

will keep my fingers crossed and will pray for the best to come your way.Long term marriage may be ending? Any advice?
May God help your husband stop drinking, have patience dear and pray for God's help ! Dear God, please, help this family, give them your love to start their life with you, with a new help!
Wow this is really a sad relationship I would get out as fast as I could you say you don't have money there is attorneys that are out there that do this type of divorce for free I can't remember what you call them but your husband will have to pay you spousal support since he hasn't giving you any type of income of your own my mother got divorced this past February and her husband had to pay her spousal support , I wish you the best no one needs to be married to a jerk like that,, God bless you...
ok ok, however you cannot trow out your man, you are worring because you do not have money, probably he is worrying were to live. also when you married him you promise to be with him in good and in bad, so as a wife you must help him if he has a problem. the problem must be fixed not run away from it
The land is really still your's and I'm sure your future lawyer will agree. You could evict your husband from the land. Anyway If the two of you haven't already tried counseling I suggest some. Otherwise it's time for you to move on. Don't let him continue to bring you down. It's time to do for yourself.
He will probably get half of everything since you have been married so long. And if there's no signed agreement that the land will still be just yours then you'll probably have to split it 50- 50. That means you'll be forced to sell the house . The worst thing is he can probably but your half out. And more then likely he plans to. If you can hire are really good lawyer he might can help but since you have been together so long then I would expect the worst.
Is there any chance you could move in with your mother? You may want to speak to a divorce lawyer to get advice on how to proceed, but this will cost money (they ask for a retainer). What you may want to do is contact a women's shelter and ask for a name of an attorney who may be able to help or at least get some advice for someone in your situation in your area. It's important finding out things in your own area because laws are different depending on where you live.
